HOW DID YOU BECOME A FAN OF COLIN?
For me I discovered Colin through one of my all time favourite actors Al Pacino... whom I absolutely adore, and would run away with tomorrow despite him being old enough to be my father!!! I remember the day really well. I'd gone to the cinema in the afternoon to see the film The Recruit, and it was the first and only time, I've ever gone to the cinema on my own. In fact... between you and me I'd actually pulled a sickie from work just so I could go to see the film! It was quite a sad experience, not the film but being in the cinema. There was only me and some guy in the place. Not taking any chances I sat right at the back and near the exit, and thankfully he stayed right at the front. I remember watching the film and feeling strangely guilty, not because I'd skipped work, but because I almost had the whole cinema to myself with just Al... and that's when it happened, I suddenly noticed Colin was in the film too! I vaguely recalled his name, and some connection to a TV series called Ballykissangel, and that's probably why I never took any further interest. But now I was sat there thinking how the hell did I overlook this guy? And so it went from there. I bought the DVD of the film, watched it over and over, listened to Colin doing the voice over commentary of the film, and liked what I was hearing, and so went on to buy more Colin DVDs. Not content with just DVD's, I soon found myself scouring the glossies like a woman possessed, going google-eyed and crazy on the net, and it wasn't long before I too became a fully fledged 'Colinette'... and the rest as they say is history!
I'd really love to hear how you became a fan

My Colin fan story isn't too much different. I wasn't familiar with any of his work, but had seen him in magazines and read about some of his antics. I thought he was extremely good looking, but as we all know, good looking guys are a dime a dozen. Then I saw him on Letterman or Leno a couple years ago and thought he was really funny. Some time went by and Miami Vice hit the theatres. I went to see it with the guy I was dating at the time and I absolutely loved him in it! I really like gritty cop stories anyway, so that didn't hurt. Soon after that, I caught The Recruit on cable by accident, just flipping channels. After that I was hooked and on a mission to see everything he's ever done. I think he's brilliant in just about all. I even enjoyed Alexander. There were parts of that movie that could have been done better, but I fault Stone, not Colin's acting. I now have seen everything he's done and own most of them. Besides being major eye candy, he really is a phenomenal actor. Pride and Glory, SWAT and of course In Bruges,I love them all. I'm very anxious to see Ondine when it comes out and Triage. Not alot of actors can do comedy and drama equally as well, so he's very gifted.
ReplyDeleteGemini, are you in the States? If you can get a copy, there's an episode of Scrubs that he did several yeas ago when he was still relatively unknown that I found. He's so freakin funny in it, I did literally laugh out loud. So that's my fangirl story :)
Thanks for your story Virgo, it's great to hear how other people got hooked. Yes, I've seen the Scrubs episode thanks to my daughter who is a big fan, she's also into Colin now, but then the poor girl hasn't had much choice! I agree with you that Colin is an extremely versatile actor, and I notice he's choosing his film roles more carefully now. I don't think he was taken seriously enough to begin with despite some really good work i.e. The New World, but it was mainly due to his personal life being so newsworthy, and well... naughty ;-) But now he's coming through as a more stable and capable actor, and proving you can still be hot, and sober. Although I'd be a liar if I didn't say sometimes I miss the old Irish bullshitter that he was, because he did it so sweetly, and probably because I'm always attracted to the bad guys. LOL. I think he'll go on to become a huge player within Hollywood even if he is trying not too. It's a simple case of you've either got that certain something or you haven't, and as we both know... he's got it baby :-) xx
ReplyDeleteI do agree about the bad boy part. Without going into alot of personal detail, he is the spitting image of my ex in his younger days. Looks, bad boy, party factor and charm to spare are all similiar. So needless to say, I have a serious soft spot for CF.
ReplyDelete(Too bad my ex wasn't a rich actor, lol!)
I think Colin's done really well in managing to get a grip and stay control of his vices, but I just hope he doesn't become too guarded, and serious. And yes indeed... it's one thing to be a rich and famous bad boy, and quite another to be bad boy old Joe Bloggs!!! LOL xx
ReplyDeleteI have one word for you that explains it all
ReplyDeleteAlexander the great!!!!!!!!!
