WHEN DO RUMOURS START TO BECOME TRUTH?

I know we've done our fair share of 'gossip rumour analysis' on the CFWB, but as we are not a professional media company, and don't claim to be... I don't think as much as we like to consider our opinions important, that they are in fact considered 'important' or more importantly, considered 'fact', within the realms of the international media arena. We are simply people coming together on a blog, to discuss topics of conversation amongst ourselves.

But now with so many rumours openly circulating world-wide, and being reported in the media as fact... in regards to state of Colin and Alicja relationship, it's becoming increasingly difficult not to ask oneself: rumour, or truth?

Surely, a rumour can only sustain being a rumour if it has an element of truth within it, otherwise it would be classed as 'slander' would it not?
And so why would they lay themselves open to a possible court case for damages, if they were not 'confident' that there was some element of truth in their reporting?

I can't help thinking this whole relationship has been handled not particularly well by the person's involved, and it's clearly becoming a messy state of affairs, but even more worryingly... it's not going away. Privacy is one thing, but so is a stubborn refusal to face the reality of a situation. If it's good, strong and working, would you not think it would be wiser to say so, rather than letting your love-life be reported as bad, weak and not working! Sometimes silence is not always the best way, and pride can work both ways.

  1. I think that there is some truth to most of the rumours, but some, it this case probably something is there, but also there's serious possibility that as most parents they want him to propose and they're suspicious about him so tabloid makes stories around that facts. I just can't see in what possible way he can hate them so much especially when they live far away from LA to banned them from baby birth. And I think that this part of this roumor is false- it's not only his decision,he's a celeb here so his name sells papers but she has her own brain, some money and always can buy plane ticket for parents or for herself .

  2. True... but what I can't get my head around is why they are both allowing these rumours to continue and spread?! When they can both simply put the story to bed so to speak, simply by making an appearance together, hell they don't even have to talk! It just doesn't make sense, well not to me anyway ; - )

  3. Maybe they decided not to comment on anything, I don't know if it's better for them or not but so far it looks like that, anyway for me.Just like they didn't comment on baby news until the C's public appearnace when he was directly asked and he just said the truth, nothing more and nothing less. There's always possibility that they're no longer together but we have no indication that it is true despite them not being snapped by paps lately, but Colin vanished too so I think that they'te just keeping very, very low profile this days.

  4. Her parents have money and presumably passports. They don't need his permission to see her and be with her for the birth. My mother would tell him to f*ck the f*ck off and be at my side whether he pouted through it or not. And what grown woman lets her boyfriend ban her family from anything. This has to be bullsh*t. I'm much more worried about the rumor a nasty person on another board has started and in all caps. WTF! I don't believe it because it's only there and people seem to start sh*t over there for attention sometimes. Not all but a few.

  5. what new rumor on other board??!!!!

  6. The IMDB board. I forget the name of the person, Valentine of something like. I don't even want to say what she wrote but it is very seriously terrible. I hope she made it up. It looked like other people putting comments there had knowledge it could be true or part true. I don't know but I hope it's not.

  7. 5:58 I can see that it must be something terrible because you're not saying what it is but only thing I can find there is recent discussion if the're still together so if you can post a link or just write what the hell is going on??? please!!!

  8. I think it is in the one that says Colin is not going to Rome. I happen to believe there's power in words and thoughts so I won't repeat it. There aren't many posts to go through.

  9. I was wrong. Here's the link to the worst post:

    It's sickening.

  10. I think whether or not there is one shred of truth to any rumor, I would not want to be in CF's shoes, having my personal life dissected under a microscope by the media and then consequently, the public. He doesn't owe us an explanation or an answer about any of it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. But he sure would like us to go and see his movies! C'om guys, get real; he's in the public domain, you can't just decide "I want to be alone"... or can you! ; - )

  12. Gemini is absolutely right. Colin sold his right to "I want to be alone and only be seen for my acting work" when he gave very personal interviews to magazines like Vanity, Esquire, and even Playboy. He opened that Pandora's box. His fans didn't. You can get all self-righteous about it Anon 9:55 but it doesn't change the facts. Colin used his personal life and his faux bad boy persona to sell his films and make money. Much like Pandora, he doesn't get decide when the contents of his box are returned there.

If someone wants to be an actor but doesn't require the spotlight, there are many avenues open to them. Summer stock, dinner theater, work as an extra. Or, he could just get a job at McDonald's and then no one will care who he sleeps with or what he eats for breakfast. No one held a gun to his head and made him give intimate details about his sex life to magazines and tv interviewers. If we gossip about him now, it doesn't take a genius to follow the bread trail to its source.

    ReplyDelete
  13. First of all 5:26, I wasn't being "self-righteous." And secondly, interviews that he gave to magazines years ago, or even yesterday, are irrelevant. So, he's not entitled to grow and change as a person? And because he's famous, the whole world is entitled to know everything about his private life? Is that what you're saying? All I said was, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes on that count and I don't feel we are ENTITLED to know everything about his private life.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Why are they irrelevant? Because you can't come up with any other way to argue your point than to tell me that things Colin has said are irrelevant? He just gave an interview to Gay Byrne that was quite personal. Has he changed dramatically since then? I think not.

I never said because he is famous we are entitled to know things about him. If you would read it carefully, I said we are entitled to gossip about his life because he has put his life OUT THERE to sell his movies. There is a distinct difference between those two thoughts. I never would have known Colin likes ordering black hookers if he hadn't said it. I would never have known he had issues with his father or what he was thinking the MOMENT his child was conceived if he hadn't said it to a magazine. You can't have it both ways. You can't sell your personal life for financial gain and then expect to live without the reprecussions of it.

No one asked you to step into his shoes. As far as I can tell, you haven't put your life up for public consumption. He did. He wanted the public and casting directors to talk about him. More than half of his early career stemmed from the buzz he created about himself by saying and doing outrageous things. Like I said, once the monster is out of the box, you'd be hard pressed to shove back in there.

  15. And if YOU would read carefully, you would see that what I said was "HE DOESN'T OWE US an explanation or an answer about any of it."

Your logic is circular and you lack empathy. Good for you :) I'm sorry you don't feel I'm entitled to mine. Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  16. post script: I told you EXACTLY why they are irrelevant TO ME -- because I believe he is entitled to grow and change as a human being.

  17. I'm shocked the polish press haven't said anything about the birth or the rumors ABC was in hospital. Has anyone seen anything besides Rome?

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't think there's been a birth and the polish sites I've seen are posting very unflattering pictures of their princess. I'm thinking she's not such a big deal there - more tabloid trash than superstar.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 5:24 You don't know what you talking about.Alicja is well known in Poland, she is just very private person, all this stuff from 'fakt' and 'pudelek' is tabloid trash talking. There is no news,so they have to come up with something.Everybody in right mind don't take seriously what is written in Fakt(that's were Pudelek gets his info). That rag is a garbage, same like National Enquirer or Star magazine.

  20. Just saying they seem to be picking ugly pictures of her, like what we see of Lohan here. I don't get ABC at all. She was dull in Trade. Looks to be equally flat in Ondine (no reviews say anything about her acting so far) and no one is paying attention to her pregnancy even in Ireland where they used to eat up everything to do with Colin.

  21. http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117941098.html?categoryid=2863&cs=1&query=ondine

For example, and there's more pretty good reviews for both Colin and Alicia. I have good friend who lives in Poland and she told me that Alicia ispretty popular there and there was never eny scandal with her involved in but because she lives in LA for so long time no one is very interested in her of course herrelationship with CF was the news but now no one besides some rags don't give a sh@#$%

  22. The best said of ABC is she's "effective" and Colin is "first rate" and this is the only one i've seen where she's mentioned more than her name as the title character. If she was anything more than effective she would've gotten a lot more mention and more glowing praise. The acting of the child and Colin are mentioned in every review I've seen and the chemistry between those two. I'd love to see a good review of ABC's performance if you can please post a link. Her features look masculine in many pictures- he seems to be attracted to strong bold features on a woman's face. His sisters are both so lovely and feminine. What up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I I've seen some more good reviews also for Alicia, so I'm with 7:10 on this, I don't remember the links but if you search the web you will find them, but there is still not so much of them we must wait until it premiers in theatres. I can agree that she's probably not the next Al Pacino :P but she's certainly a good actress, I'm sure that there's a lot of (like Jordan said) pretty, East European girls who additioned for that gig and somehow she got it so she can't be bad. She didn't sleep with C at that time so it's not like he get her a job.I heard that she's strong women, so I'm curious how she's gonna be now, having the baby and beeing CF baby mama.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You may not like her acting, but you can't deny her beauty.Check her on youtube, she is very beautiful,as far as her acting goes 8:58 is right she can't be such a bad actress if Jordan had no problem choosing her for main female character in Ondine.I've seen her in Trade and she did a pretty good job.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I think ABC is considered a 'good actress' by those in the film industry. Her big break really should have been 'Ondine', as she'd already done the film 'Trade', the film that got her noticed. So I almost can't help but feel for her, as the pregnancy has certainly over-shadowed her lime-light for this film. But, then again shit happens I guess!

I don't know whether the way C or A are handling this pregnancy is particularly conducive... they're certainly not being helpful, and I can't help but think they're almost being deliberately over-the-top with the privacy thing and really all quite un-necessary. C keeps tellings us he doesn't consider himself to be 'big time gossip' anymore, so why then Sir, all this cloak and dagger shit?

Somebody is playing a game here, and it's not the fans!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I really respect C for beeing private and he has every right to keep his life low profile, especially when he's girlfriend is pregnant and they need privacy I get that I really do, and probably the way he's been acting lately is one of the reasons a like the man. But I must agree with Gemini on one: I think they are over the top with privacy and it's not necessary because C is not big gossip as he used to be and it's not like he would be first page every day, so this not even using A's name thing is just weird at this point, plus there were some pictures of them few months ago and then suddenly they decided to go underground and i would be first to say that they spilt up if I thought they did, (but actually there's no C alone either) so it's like paparazzi are not SO interested in him any more since he's doing normal stuff plus he's really really relly probably not hanging out with her in public places- at least it looks like that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I respect privacy- ok, but not even saying: "WE're happy about the baby"- when it's public knowledge who's the mother and that they are in the relationship? I get that they probably thought that it's better- less talking less gossip but it just doesn't look good at least for me when he ignores her. Not nice.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What I find it strange is, we don't see a new pictures of Colin alone either.Every day I find pictures of these Z-listers aka Kardashians,Lohan,Hiltons, but not even a one pic of Colin. He is way popular, then those people yet it's like paparazzi forgot all about him.

  29. well, I think that sooner than later somethig gonna happen ... It's just to quiet it's usually that quiet before the storm ;P

  30. I'm still looking for a good review of ABC. I saw Trade and she was dull. And the reviews of Ondine barely mention her, if at all. Really she isn't a beast by any means but she's not beautiful, especially when she does the tight bun thing on her head. Girl needs all the hair free falling. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think she's plain jane. She probably was in Hollywood long enough to know she didn't have the acting chops or the unique beauty necessary to break in so she did next best thing and hooked herself a movie star. She's not dumb.

  31. I don't know if these pics were posted, but anyway this is when they were shoothing Ondine http://presschicago.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=32152 andhttp://presschicago.com/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=32142.There are a lot of them if somebody is interested.

  32. I wish poor polka's peeps would update her IMDB page with the great reviews ya'll are finding on her in Ondine. Only news there is she's trying to get Colin Farrell to put a ring on it. If only he'd put a little rubber ring on it several months ago... Agree with the few here who aren't stunned by her beauty and brilliance as an actor. I think Col needs to cast a bigger net next time! ;)

  34. Having seen the photos at the U2 concert, I have to say that Alicja generally looks worried about something.
